Monday was a day of change, two things were noteworthy. First Anna and Jensen did a feeding study, and it was determined that with Jensen's fast breathing that it would be too hard and dangerous for Jensen to breast feed or bottle feed. It was decided that instead of the nasal tube, they would surgically install a stomach tube in his belly for a period of time. They were talking about even going home after that, within a week.
The second thing was not so good. A nurse found some blood in his diaper, so they did an xray. They found a swollen lower colon that was infected. They called this a pnuematosis. He is being treated with antibiotics. To do that they had to struggle through finding a site for an IV again. It ended up on his head, after attempting his hand. That is what the picture is about; they used a light to illuminate his hand looking for veins. His stay is probably about three weeks longer now. They caught this in time because there was a real danger of a ruptured bowl.
Lord, Lord take care of our baby. I saw him this afternoon, and he looked pretty good. He wasn't crying much, although they say this is painful for him. He's a real tough guy. So there you have it, please keep him in your prayers.
