Just out of surgery

Jensen just got out of surgery (about 6pm). He is fine, but they didn't get the stent placed. His artery was too big for the stent. He was in six hours, and Jeff said they waited awhile during surgery for the artery to get smaller. It was about 7mm and that was too big. If they put a bigger stent in, it would have been too big, and there wouldn't have been enough blood flow to the lungs.

They will now have to go back in and graft in a shunt. That will probably happen late this week or early next. That was going to be the next step anyway, it is just going to happen sooner now. There is some good news; his heart tolerated the invasive procedure better than some do. They were also able to get data about his heart that they didn't have previously.

It sure was a long wait for Jeff and Anna, six hours instead of three. They were updated a couple of times reassuring them he was OK. Sophia was able to see baby brother in the glass transporter in the hallway on the way to the cath lab also. That is the first time she has seen him, since age three is the cut off for visitors in the NICU.
